STEP 1 - GOVERNANCE

In this section, we go through the B Corp questions aimed at evaluating your company's overall mission, ethics, accountability and transparency through topics such as integration of social and environmental goals in employees’ performance evaluation, impact reporting and transparency, stakeholder engagement, and more. We'll discuss your company's mission statement and what you can do to enhance policies and practices pertaining to its mission, ethics, accountability and transparency.

STEP 2 - WORKERS

In our second session, we look at your workers and workplace. We discuss what your company can do to contribute to your employees’ financial, physical, professional, and social well-being.

This section of the B Impact Assessment identifies who should be considered a "worker" and reports your worker-related metrics. It also identifies whether your company is designed to deliver a specific, material, positive impact for its workers, and if so, opens the Worker Impact Business Model section that is most applicable. The Workers Impact Area evaluates your company's contribution to its employees’ financial, physical, professional, and social well-being through topics such as payment of a living wage, benefits, employee health and safety, professional development opportunities, and more.

STEP 3 - COMMUNITY

In this session, we focus on what your company can do to bolster the economic and social well-being of the communities in which it operates.

The B Impact Assessment questions in this section are aimed at evaluating your company's contribution to the economic and social well-being of these communities, through topics such as diversity and inclusion, job creation, civic engagement and philanthropy, supply chain management, and more.

STEP 4 - ENVIRONMENT

From your green building standards, to energy use and carbon emissions, in this step, we go through the B Corp questions on what your company can do to improve its  environmental impact.

The Environment Impact Area evaluates your company's overall environmental stewardship, including how the company manages general environmental impacts as well as specific topics like climate, water use and sustainability, and impacts on land and life.

This section asks about your environmental footprint to determine which questions are applicable later on in the assessment. It also identifies whether your company's product/service is designed to deliver a specific, material, positive environmental impact, and if so, opens the Environmental Impact Business Model section that is most applicable.

STEP 5 -
CUSTOMERS

The Customers Impact Area evaluates the value that your company creates for your direct customers and the consumers of your products or services through topics such as ethical and positive marketing, warranty and quality assurance of products and services, data privacy, data security, and more.

This section identifies whether your company's product/service is designed to deliver a specific, material, positive impact for its customers (beyond the value normally provided from goods or services), and if so, opens the Customer Impact Business Model section that is most applicable.

STEP 6 - DISCLOSURE

Identify any potentially sensitive industries, practices, outcomes or fines/sanctions of your company that are not explicitly called out in the rest of the assessment.

The Disclosure Questionnaire identifies any potentially sensitive industries, practices, outcomes or
fines/sanctions of your company. It does not factor into a company’s B Impact Assessment score, but is reviewed to determine eligibility for B Corp Certification.

Disclosure industries include gambling, tobacco, pornography, alcohol, firearms and weapons, fossil fuels, mining, and more.

STEPS 7 to 10 -
IMPROVE AND CONSOLIDATE

In the final 4 sessions we go back and look over your responses so far and start filling in any gaps and missing answers. We review, improve and consolidate your responses to ensure we lock in your mission and we gather evidence to prepare for final submission.
